Is there bars and nightlife around the louvre in paris? thinking of staying in that area?

You can walk anywhere in the day in Paris. It is very safe. I would avoid walking at night in the 18,19,20. The Champs-Elysees can get sleazy on the weekend nights but has some good bars/cafes. I'm of the opinion that the 5th Latin Quarter is boring and trashy. I wouldn't spend much time there. 7th and 16th are residential. 8th is where the party is. 13 is Chinatown. 6th has great little cafes and bars, especially in the Rue des Canettes/Rue Princess area. I would stick with the 1, 6, 7, 8 if I were you. These are my favorites.
