Breaking it to the family that my wedding won't be catholic...?

If you are at all involved in a church you could ask the priest if he would preside over a non-church ceremony. It won't be a catholic wedding since it is not in a church but that could make your family happy. It is kinda hard to find a priest to do that though. You could also tell them that whatever location you have having the ceremony at is just incredibly special to the two of you and it just wouldn't be the same anywhere else. I told my family I catholic wedding would involve to much paperwork since I am marrying a lutheran and they went along with that, not sure if it will work for you though.
