How can I get an apartment?

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get an apartment. At the moment i'm only working one part time job 32 hours a week *after lunches* 7.90 an hour. They will only keep me on if I keep my availability open through the Christmas season. Only problem is that where I am staying right now, I'm about to get kicked out of pretty much because she has family coming to visit soon. I am 20 and I just moved to this area and don't have anyone that i can room with and i'm a little iffy about living with strangers. Rent averages from 450-520 a month. My mom will cosign for me but she doesnt have the best credit. Any ideas would be appreciated
