Question for parents:were you/spouse upset to find out you were expecting, then eventually get happy about it?

A close friend of our family found out she was preg again (their little boy is about 11 months old) and her boyfriend was very upset to find out she was preg. again...until about a week ago when they went to an ultra sound and found out they were having a little girl....it was like a light switch went off and now he's acting like super dad.
